NHTSA is the federal agency that sets national standards for occupant protection, which includes car safety seats. It also provides information, statistical data, technical assistance and educational materials relating to child passenger safety. This international organization sponsors state and local injury prevention programs, as well as develops safety campaigns and materials. There are 17 Ohio regional affiliates dedicated to preventing unintentional injury to children. This organization sponsors the national child passenger safety technician training and certification.
